Recognized for her innate musicality, compelling presence, and technical precision, conductor Sunny Xia’s ability to forge an immediate and captivating connection with orchestras and singers alike has led to engagements around the globe. Following a highly successful three-year tenure as Douglas F. King Associate Conductor of the Seattle Symphony, she joins the Opéra national du Rhin as First Kapellmeiterin in the 2026/2027 season where she will lead performances of Rigoletto and L'amour des trois oranges. She took on two new roles in the 2025/2026 season: Associate Conductor of the Seattle Opera and Conducting Fellow of the San Diego Symphony. Her recent and upcoming appearances include the New Jersey Symphony, Tanglewood Music Center, Detroit Symphony, Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg, and Phoenix Symphony.
