Recognized for her innate musicality, compelling presence, and technical precision, conductor Sunny Xuecong Xia’s ability to forge an immediate and captivating connection with orchestras and singers alike has led to engagements around the globe. Appointed the Seattle Symphony’s Douglas F. King Assistant Conductor in September 2022, she began her position as the Associate Conductor in the 2023/2024 season. She takes on two new roles in the 2025/2026 season: Associate Conductor of the Seattle Opera and Conducting Fellow of the San Diego Symphony. In the 2026/2027 season, she will serve as Assistant Conductor of Opéra national du Rhin and conduct performances of Rigoletto and The Love for Three Oranges. Her recent and upcoming engagements include the New Jersey Symphony, Dallas Opera, Detroit Symphony, Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg, and Phoenix Symphony.
SEATTLE OPERA

Sunny Xia joins the Seattle Opera as Associate Conductor for productions of Daphne and Carmen in the 2025/2026 season.
Xia selected for 2026 Tanglewood Conducting Seminar. She will make her debut conducting Oliver Knussen's Requiem for Sue.
